Hello, everyone! Long time no update!

While I've been too busy to sink my teeth into writing a sequel to What Remains (surprisingly hard to get into considering it has an actual plot), I have been doing something else! A few months ago I joined the Once Upon a Time VN Jam with the intention of creating something set in the What Remains universe, and I did! Say hi to Cariñosa!

Cariñosa is a beauty and the beast retelling in which you play as Bulan, a human sacrifice sent to kill a monster that has been terrorizing his city. It's a t4t mlm gothic romance set on an isolated island with a manananggal love interest.

Currently the writing for the demo is complete at around 7k words and is going through beta reading and edits (thanks Cres and Cath).  Overall though we are at 10k with more coming eventually! The game will also be fully voiced with an original soundtrack and art by moi. Unfortunately though you cannot pick pronouns as the main character is not a self-insert.

Here's a small snippet for you to nibble on!

Bulan wakes to a scream. It pierces the night sky, shattering whatever sense of safety he’d found in this small haven. His eyes snap open, blood drumming at the inside of his ears. His mind is bleary and his legs still ache from the climb, yet his heart threatens to erupt from his chest at any moment.

He bolts out of bed to the balcony. The fog is thicker now, crawling on the castle grounds until it claws at the base of the building. Where the sea once was, now there is a rolling cloud of gray barring entrance from even the most discerning eye. For all intents and purposes he may as well be in heaven… but he knows he is not.

In the distance, he spots two figures, blotted out patches of black against the tapestry of darkened sky. The lighthouse’s beams pass over them like clockwork, and his heart stutters to a stop.

There.

A pair of black wings, a bisected body, and a woman struggling in its grip.

His blood runs cold.
